Third party apps will become the security safeguard ofchoice for corporate mobile users by 2014, with Europe and the UK at thecentre of the trend according to a new report by analysts at Juniper Research.
Juniper’s ‘Endpoint Security for Business: Desktops, Laptopsand Mobile Devices 2009-2014’ report predicted that over 77 million corporate deviceswill be using security software by the middle of the decade.
“Improvements to the underlying security of the OS, shorterreplacement cycles and concerted efforts by the mobile industry to avoid theproblems seen in the PC world have so far kept the malware threat to the mobiledevice at bay,” said Juniper senior analyst Anthony Cox.
It is thought that the growing value of data held oncorporate smartphones, laptops and netbooks, will cause more enterprise buyersto take up security technology in the next five years.
However, even with 77 million devices covered, corporatemobile device protection levels will rise to just 18.6% by 2014.
