Unified threat management (UTM) specialist WatchGuard has added Sphinx to its distribution roster as it integrates the acquired Borderware products and channels into its portfolio.

Sphinx, which was a Borderware distributor, joins Wick Hill, Ingram Micro and Northamber in the line-up as WatchGuard extends into messaging and content security with the launch of the Extensible Content Security (XCS) product that protects customers from the cloud.

Joe Wang, CEO of WatchGuard, said that the threats online were becoming more sophisticated so it made sense to roll out a product that could counter web and email-based threats.

WatchGuard acquired Borderware in August and at the time Wang said the deal would help it extend the coverage against threats and protection it offered customers.

The UTM vendor has been pushing XTM this year and clearly is looking to build on that branding with XCS.
