Hewlett-Packard is marking the 25th birthday ofthe LaserJet pointing to the improvements it has made environmentally with theproducts as one of the main reasons to celebrate.
The vendor has reeled off a list of numbers to accompany theoccasion including units shipments of 132m in that period and a reduction of5.25m tons of CO2 as a result of reducing emissions.
Tatiana Fish, SMB marketing manager, LaserJet and enterprise solutions, HP Imaging & Printing Group EMEA, said that things had improvedradically since the early days of the launch of the product.
“Back in 1984,traditional office printing was formerly based around the notoriously noisydaisy wheel and dot matrix system characterised by variable quality,inconsistent image resolution and a limited number of fonts,” she said.
Speaking at a recent eventattending by MicroScope, Norman Richardson, UK and Ireland head of IPG at HP,admitted that the group had seen a 19% drop in revenues but said that therewere bright spots with the increased interest from SMEs in colour printing.
