ComputerLinks is continuing to sign vendors to bolster its physical security division promoting a package that can be sold by security resellers looking to extend the scope of users existing investments in building protection.

The addition of HID Global to the line-up makes it possible for a user to get access to a building with a pass and to launch Windows using the card and a PIN.

John Turner, head of ComputerLinks IP physical security division, said that the package comprised the card and a reader, which could be connected to the PC via USB, as well as some software that resellers could charge licence fees for.

“The target market is everyone using an HID access card,” said Turner who added that the system would appeal to companies trying to tighten up on mobile security because without the card reader and PIN a system could be locked down.

The distributor is also offering training and support to resellers that are keen to get involved with the convergence of physical and logical security.

Since kicking off the physical security division towards the tail end of last year Turner said that it had grown the business and got into a situation where more traditional security resellers were showing an interest in combining the physical with the logical.
