ComputerLinks is continuing to sign vendors to bolster itsphysical security division promoting a package that can be sold by securityresellers looking to extend the scope of users existing investments in buildingprotection.

The addition of HID Global to the line-up makes it possible for auser to get access to a building with a pass and to launch Windows using the cardand a PIN.

John Turner, head of ComputerLinks IP physical securitydivision, said that the package comprised the card and a reader, which could beconnected to the PC via USB, as well as some software that resellers couldcharge licence fees for.

“The target market is everyone using an HID access card,”said Turner who added that the system would appeal to companies trying totighten up on mobile security because without the card reader and PIN a systemcould be locked down.

The distributor is also offering training and support toresellers that are keen to get involved with the convergence of physical andlogical security.

Since kicking off the physical security division towards thetail end of last year Turner said that it had grown the business and got into asituation where more traditional security resellers were showing an interest incombining the physical with the logical.
