According to a report from a number of specialist employment groups, including the Chartered Management Institute, an in-depth analysis of six quarters worth of the Labour Force Survey, those with professional qualifications were rewarded in earnings.
Over a lifetime the benefit of holding professional qualifications was priced at £81,000 and there was also an increase in the prospects for long-term employment prospects.
Charles Tilley, chief executive of CIMA and chair of the Consultative Committee for Professional Management Organisations, said that there had to be more encouragement for people to go beyond academic qualifications.
“Driving up the demand for professionalism in the UK has the potential to be immense. Not only can individuals benefit at a personal level, but the spill-over effect brought about by influencing team members can have a huge impact on UK productivity,” he said.
Resellers that invest in gaining industry qualifications have often pointed to them as a source not just of customers but also as a way of standing out from the competition.
