In an innovative move to try and stir the level of full timepositions for IT and telco staff a recruitment specialist focusing on that areais offering to pay the first month of the salaries of those staff taken on.
The decision by Ratio Search & Selection to pay thefirst month’s pay for those given permanent positions is in response to thecurrent trend for temporary positions rather than full time.
As a result of the recession an increasing number of firmsare looking for short-term cover but not yet prepared to make the leap intotaking on people full-time.
“We have never seen such high demand for temporary staff, said Steven Byrne, Ratio Search & Selection’s recruitment director.
Ratio will pay the first month’s pay and guarantee to find areplacement if the person chosen for the role leaves within a year.
Byrne said that it hoped the scheme would “knock down someof the barriers” holding some companies from recruiting full-time staff.
There have already been some warnings sounded about thedepth of some staff cuts with the resistance to re-hiring some of those thathave been let go with predictions that some companies will find themselves in aweak position as the recovery kicks in.
