Adobe has talked up the recovery in demand for its products despite posting lower revenue and profit numbers for its fourth quarter.
The software specialist posted revenue of $757.3m down from $915.3m and a GAAP net loss of $32m compared to a profit the year before of $246m for the quarter ended 27 November.
For the full fiscal year revenue of $2.9bn dropped from the previous year's performance of $3.5bn and GAAP net income was decimated moving from $871.8m in 2008 to $386.5m.
Shantanu Narayen, president and CEO of Adobe, said that it had seen "an improvement in customer demand" in its fiscal fourth quarter
He added that it had made investments during its 2009 fiscal year, most recently the acquisition of web analytics specialist Omniture, and those would filter through to bolster the numbers in its first quarter.
Adobe is aiming to increase revenue in Q1 targeting between $800 to $850m with an expected $70 - $80m coming from Omniture. The vendor also has the next release of its flagship Creative Suite product coming in the first half of 2010.
