Bell Micro has secured a deal with Parallels to add server and desktop virtualisation to its portfolio.
The distributor already has relationships with Brocade and DataCore, but is now adding Parallels to encourage resellers to promote a suite of products to data centre customers.
Mervyn Hall, data centre solutions business manager at Bell Micro, said desktop virtualisation was starting to take off, but Parallels offered the ability to support 250 desktops on a server, which was considerably higher than other products on the market.
He added that there was a reasonable amount of interest in the desktop proposition at last month’s VMWorld event, but to ensure resellers understood its approach, Bell Micro planned to hold a series of seminars and webinars.
Russell Blackburn, UK country manager at Parallels, said the key to desktop virtualisation was the number of PCs that could be supported on a single server, and on that measure it had impressed at VMWorld. "There is no clear market leader and we aim to be that," he stated.
Blackburn added that Parallels would control its channel to avoid over-distribution of its product.
