Fujitsu has put together a battery replacement programme for certain AMILO notebooks shipped over a two year period after receiving some customer reports of overheating issues.

The consumer models impacted by the potential fire hazard include the AMILO Pa2510, Pi2512 and Pi2515 shipped between April 2007 and June 2009, all other notebooks in the range, as well as the Pro version and the LIFEBOOK line are not affected.

“Fujitsu took the decision to implement this proactive exchange programme after receiving a limited number of customer reports about overheating batteries and an associated fire risk,” the firm said in a statement issued today.

Customers with the stated models should remove the battery and operate their notebook with the AC power adapter until the replacement battery arrives. Further details can be found on its site or via this link.

Only last week, Acer brand Packard Bell revealed it was voluntarily recalling certain EasyNote laptops as the may contain a potentially faulty battery cell that could overheat and catch fire.
