Juniper Networks and Nokia Siemens Networks are putting thefinishing touches to a new Carrier Ethernet joint venture after receivingregulatory approval to push ahead with the scheme.
The eponymously dubbed ‘Carrier Ethernet Solutions’ will be incorporated in the Netherlands and will specialise in CarrierEthernet gear for mobile backhaul, business and residential broadband networks.
The JV is to be lead by Juniper VP and general manager ofthe Mobility and Circuit Emulation Business Unit, John Stewart, while NokiaSiemens senior manager of finance and control Ton van den Boom takes on therole of CFO.
“The JV will offer the industry’s best unified CarrierEthernet solution from metro access to aggregation, fully interoperable withIP/MPLS core,” said an enthusiastic Stewart.
He added: “Our customers will be able to offer newrevenue-generating services while lowering transport costs and TCO.”
The new firm will be split 60:40 between Juniper and NokiaSiemens and is set to go to market in the first calendar quarter of 2010.
