Gamers match Quo in honours list

Simon Quicke

The New Years Honours list had a smattering of industry figures represented in a year where Status Quo dominated the headlines for the OBEs handed out to three-chord strummers Rick Parfitt and Frank Rossi.

Closer to home there were honours bestowed to some developers in the computer games world with brothers Paul and Oliver Collyer, founders of SportInteractive, which devised the Championship Manager franchise, given MBEs.

Rodney Cousens, CEO of Codemasters, received an CBE for services to the industry and Paul Jackson, who heads the British Association of Entertainment Software (ELSPA), which represents the games industry also got an OBE.

Dr Andrew Herbert, managing director of Microsoft Research in Cambridge, also received an OBE.
