Resellers offering unified comms solutions as a managed service will find favour with the business community, with 56% of UK organisations advocating a managed service approach, according to research by Siemens Enterprise Communications.
Siemens door stepped a hundred comms professionals at this week’s UC’09 show at London’s Olympia in an attempt to gauge end-user perceptions and buying behaviour.
SEC strategy director Tim Bishop said: “Organisations are rightly assessing the benefits of unified communications and the commercial proposition that a managed UC service can deliver. They want to work with a partner that understands the technology and its benefits, who can also implement and deliver on a managed service basis.”
Siemens said the growing levels of demand reflected the business community’s desire to implement technology in a planned and financially viable way in the current economic climate, by shifting CAPEX into OPEX, for example. Opting for a managed service UC model would also allow them access to skilled professionals, alleviate pressure on the IT team and enhance business continuity, it was found.
The survey also unearthed encouraging signs that the messages around UC adoption are being taken up, with 51% of respondents saying they believed UC capabilities would be standard in the enterprise environment by 2012.
