UK plc demanding managed UC

Resellers offering unified comms solutions as a managedservice will find favour with the business community, with 56% of UKorganisations advocating a managed service approach, according to research bySiemens Enterprise Communications.


Siemens doorstepped a hundred comms professionals at this week’s UC’09 show at London’s Olympiain an attempt to gauge end-user perceptions and buying behaviour.

 

SEC strategy director Tim Bishop said: “Organisations arerightly assessing the benefits of unified communications and the commercial propositionthat a managed UC service can deliver. They want to work with a partner thatunderstands the technology and its benefits, who can also implement and deliveron a managed service basis.”

 

Siemens said the growing levels of demand reflected thebusiness community’s desire to implement technology in a planned andfinancially viable way in the current economic climate, by shifting CAPEX intoOPEX, for example. Opting for a managed service UC model would also allow themaccess to skilled professionals, alleviate pressure on the IT team and enhancebusiness continuity, it was found.

 

The survey also unearthed encouraging signs that themessages around UC adoption are being taken up, with 51% of respondents saying theybelieved UC capabilities would be standard in the enterprise environment by2012.
