As the Beijing Olympic Games enter their last two days and Team GBlooks set to return with its largest medal haul for a century, the IOC’s ITservices partner, Atos Origin, has started preparations for the London 2012Games.
According to Atos Origin, initial planning meetings havealready taken place with the London organisingcommittee and it will move key members of its IT team to London overthe next few months.
Having worked on Olympic projects in various capacities since Barcelona ‘92,Atos Origin has built up a vast amount of resource and expertise around theGames which it hopes to add to over the next four years. For London,it will be pushing a redesigned infrastructure that it hopes will meet theorganisers’ carbon neutral targets.
Resellers and integrators based in the south east of England willalso be gearing up to get involved with associated projects. Although theOlympic IT systems themselves are pretty much a closed shop, the next fouryears will see a host of parallel projects in areas such as transportinfrastructure and hospitality.
