Looks good inside and out

If the look and design of technology is something that matters to your customers then the Sony Vaio XVGNSZ61VN is going to get some welcome attention.

The reason why it is a head-turner is because it not only looks good but it has a number of features that are quick indicators of where it sits in the pecking order.

So for instance your eye is drawn to the built-in webcam, the fingerprint reader as well as the overall design.

Sony of course has a strong pedigree in the consumer electronics market and can lever its years of experience in product design and the brand helps resellers get a level of customer awareness.

But what makes this ahead of its peers is that under the hood there is enough to make it appeal to a wide audience. The processor is solid with an Intel Core 2 Duo T7700 2.40GHz and memory of 2046MB RAM, which is double the entry level. It compares favourably with most laptops that have embedded graphics, coming as it does with an nVidia GeForce 8400M GS.

Along with that there is built-in wireless and despite the mixed opinion it does make a good setting for Windows Vista Business edition to show what it can do.

Although the machine is quite expensive – not much change from £1,800 – it is a solid platform and one that has the capability to last a fair few years until the next update bug grabs the user.

With the strong branding, the quality finish to the laptop and the general movement in the market to all things portable, this would make a solid addition to any reseller’s yuletide product offerings.

Customers with doubts about the power and performance of a laptop compared to a desktop need only look at the specs with this model.
