McAfee has moved to boost its credentials in the vendor's "Year of the Partner" by appointing Autodesk veteran Georges Millet as EMEA vice president of the channel.

During his time at Autodesk, Millet created and led its worldwide channel office and previously held the post of EMEA channel and licence compliance director.

In his new role, Millet will focus on aligning McAfee's channel business in EMEA with the vendor's global strategy of making it easier to do business with the company and enabling the channel across the broad range of its security products.

McAfee EMEA president David Quantell, who has dubbed 2010 as the vendor's "Year of the Partner", greeted Millet's appointment by claiming he would bring "considerable experience of partnership and an understanding of how channels can be optimised to deliver value to both partners and to customers alike".

For his part, Millet said McAfee's renewed commitment to enabling the channel for greater success in value added business while also growing their volume business showed it had an "unrivalled offering for its channel. I am thrilled to be driving this vision and leadership across McAfee's  channel in EMEA".
