Kyocera Mita channel boss Alicia Shepherd is to up sticks and join Acer as distribution sales manager from mid-June.
The early work will be spent meeting the distributors - C2000, Ingram Micro, Micro P, ETC and Northamber - and implementing "specific sales out schemes to get buy in at reseller level and with distribution sales people," said Shepherd.
Despite the recession, Acer continued to grow by double digits quarter on quarter by snatching business from rivals, it also helped that its core markets - consumer and notebook - were less impacted by the economic meltdown.
This trend has continued in 2010 as evidenced by IDC's figures for the UK which today confirmed that the Taiwanese vendor made up ground on rivals HP and Dell, both of whom were off pace with market growth.
Shepherd's role is vital as Acer's relationship with distributors has past been slightly fractious in the past due to its aggressive sales-in strategy, but also because wholesaler's hold the key to Acer opening the way to building sales in the SME market.
Prior to joining Kyocera Mita, Shepherd served in a manager capacity at Steljes, Computer 2000, LG and NEC Displays.
