HP preps price hikes for networking boxes

Hewlett-Packard is expected to increase the price of its networking boxes from next week to account for the weakening Euro.

At the same time it is rebuilding demand generation activities and sales support for partners that drive its Converged Infrastructure play in the SME space.

According to channel sources, from 1 June an EMEA-wide price increase of up to 6% on certain SKUs (not 3Com) will be pushed through due to the low Euro exchange rate and the UK will move with the region.

"We are always moving pricing to account for currency fluctuations on an as needed basis but we do not comment on price rises before they happen," said a spokesman at HP Enterprise Servers, Storage and Networking (ESSN).

Elsewhere in the division, HP EMEA is planning to spot business leads for partners that hold the ESSN specialisation, said HP EMEA ESSN channel sales director Ahmed Mouldaia.

"HP is doubling its sales force that works with the channel to respond faster to partner requests, identify new business opportunities and generate leads in the area of converged infrastructure," he said.
