Computacenter managing director Walsh resigns

Long standing Computacenter director Simon Walsh is leaving the firm at the end of the year to pursue opportunities outside of the company with his role to be divided up between existing management.

In a memo to staff sent out today, Computacenter CEO Mike Norris confirmed that managing director of sales Walsh will be "moving onto pastures new at the end of December."

"His contribution to the development of CC has been immense, he is one of the top handful that helped the company over the last decade, his achievements are too numerous to mention," said Norris in the note.

The role will be subsumed by Chris Price, head of government business, Julie O'Hara, director of financial services and retail, director of services and solutions Neil Muller and Kevin James, who looks after other commercials.

All four will now report to Norris instead of Walsh, along with Mohammed Siddiqui who runs the international operations and sales and operations director Nick McGourty.

Norris told MicroScope that Walsh "wanted to do something different" after nearly two decades at Computacenter but brushed aside any suggestions of cost cutting.

In a note sent to staff, Walsh said he would be working his notice period and would be on hand to help, "I am extremely keen that our customers are not affected through this hand over of the relationship."
