KCOM Group finance boss Paul Simpson has assumed control of the firm following the resignation of executive director Paul Renucci.

Renucci arrived at KCOM subsidiary Affiniti in 2007 but claimed control of the whole group the following year, after overseeing a lengthy restructuring and rebranding process.

In a statement to the stock exchange yesterday, KCOM confirmed the extension of executive chairman Bill Halbert's role until 2012 before adding that Renucci was leaving.

"The board thanks him [Renucci] for having overseen the transformation of the management and operation of [the KCOM] brand."

Interim half year results ended 30 September showed a slide in sales at KCOM to £194.5m but pre-tax profits rose 35% to £22m.

At the time Halbert said the figures were in line with forecasts and the decision to "simplify" the group had paid off.

Prior to pitching up at KCOM, Renucci managed Damovo for nearly four years and before that was at Nortel Networks for 12 years, latterly as president of enterprise EMEA.
