HP EMEA enterprise distribution boss resigns

Microscope contributor

The boss of HP's enterprise distribution business across EMEA has resigned to take charge of telecoms provider Swisscom.

HP veteran Andrej Golob - who joined the vendor's Swiss channel marketing operation in 1998 - became director of Enterprise Servers, Storage and Networking (ESSN) just 11 months ago.

According to HP insiders, Golob is to become the CEO at Swisscom, Switzerland's largest native telco firm. "It sounds like he got a better offer," said one informed source.

Distributors tend to get a little twitchy when there is a change at the top as the new entrant may decide to tweak the future direction they take, and there will be strong interest in the person HP choose as the replacement.

HP refused to comment because Golob was not a vice president and therefore not sufficiently senior. However it certainly trumpeted his arrival as EMEA distribution sales manager in February 2008.

Swisscom was unavailable to comment.
