SCC has scooped the first Apple Authorised Systems Integrator (SI) accreditation in the UK to spearhead sales of iPads and Macs to corporate customers.
The Birmingham-based reseller - part of the SCH Group - secured the Apple Authorised Reseller badge in January but the SI certification is understood to have a higher qualification pre-requisite of at least 50 sales staff.
"The use of Apple devices in a corporate environment is growing parallel to the consumerisation phenomenon and the need for an alternative form factor to the PC is more evident than ever before," said SCC chief technology officer Rhys Sharp.
Last year, SCC lifted the covers off its desktop-as-a-service platform that demonstrated virtual desktop technology using the iPad.
Sales of iPads grew 68.7% in the week before Christmas across Europe's seven major economies, Context data revealed, but Apple's desire to expand outside of the retail channels has been building for some time.
Apple chief operating officer Tim Cook, currently standing in for CEO Steve Jobs, said in October that since the launch of the iPad, more than 65% of Fortune 100 firms were deploying or piloting the slate.
In the same month, the US giant also tasked Ingram Micro to expand its tablet PC sales outside of the retail sector and into the B2B space.
The SI programme was quietly unveiled in the US last year and partners that jumped on board included Unisys, Milestone Technologies and Agilex Technologies.
It seems that Apple wants a similarly low key launch in the UK as it refused to comment.
