Computer 2000 country manager Lee Perkins has resigned from the distributor and is preparing to cross the fence into vendor land to head up Sage's small business unit from July.

In other developments at the firm, Ian French's permanent residence at Azlan, C2000 enterprise arm, comes to an end today as he returns to Siceo, his consultancy business.

Perkins rejoined C2000 in September 2008 from CCD to manage its classic IT broadline distribution business - his first stint was a UK director of Azlan - and a search for his successor has already begun.

"The team that I have been part of at C2000 has delivered some amazing results and I'd love to emulate some of those successes at Sage," he told MicroScope.

French confirmed that the ambition for Computer 2000 is to become a £1.3bn distributor this fiscal year ended January 2012 and that he will provide consultancy to the business in the UK and with parent Tech Data across Europe.

The hunt for a new boss at Azlan continues with an appointment expected to be unveiled in the "next few weeks", said French.
