Yorkshire-based InTechnology has today announced a multi-million pound investment in its 4th Generation Cloud infrastructure, writes Linda Endersby.

CEO Peter Wilkinson said: "Our investment is all about giving our customers complete confidence that we will continue to provide the highest standards in infrastructure, security, support and service."

The investment will include enhancements such as additional network cross-over (meshing), new 10GB links and duplicate routers and switching gear across the multi-vendor network to robustly underpin resilience.

Wilkinson added: "Our progression from 1st to 4th generation started with server farms and a pretty basic network infrastructure. However, when we suffered a double network failure, we started our ongoing upgrade journey. Since then we've proactively added layer-upon-layer of redundancy, security and backup to our infrastructure."

InTechnology also recently unveiled plans to open a new, next generation power-efficient data centre in Reading and is  updating its server and virtualisation infrastructure, using  vendors such as Cisco, HP, EMC and NetApp.

Wilkinson stated: "It's one thing to make exaggerated claims, but if a provider can't deliver, it's the customer that suffers."
