InTechnology green datacentre opens in Berkshire

Cloud services provider, InTechnology has opened its new energy-efficient data centre in Reading in a bid to beef up its hosting provision outside the M25, writes Linda Endersby.

"The Reading data centre has been built to Tier 3 standards and we have used only next generation equipment supplied by leading vendors," said InTechnology sales direcotr Natalie Duffield.

"The combination of ultra-efficient technology and highly efficient design is very different from simply taking a legacy data centre and feeding it with green power, and ensures that the production of core carbon pollutants is minimised," she said.

"Location has always been critical for our customers, as have security and resilience," added Duffield. "These remain important criteria but today, particularly with the relentless rise in power costs, the demand for efficiency is now a key driver."

The facility is highly secure, has sophisticated monitoring and recording equipment and is manned 24/7/365. As with the firm's London and Harrogate centres it is embedded in the organisation's nationwide MPLS network as part of its end-to-end Cloud infrastructure.
