Former Meru US sales boss Bob Bruce has been handed the post of worldwide channel sales vice president at wireless LAN hotshot Aruba with the express aim of snaffling sales from under Cisco's nose.

A 30-year networking veteran, Bruce previously ran US channels at Juniper and  Cisco, and has also done time with 3Com.

Aruba boss Dominic Orr said: "A growing number of IT managers are looking for bids from vendors other than Cisco, and ... Aruba is named as a disproportionate beneficiary of that trend. We want to help our channel partners capitalise on this opportunity."

"My tenures at Juniper, Cisco and 3Com witnessed periods of enormous growth and I see the same processes in play at Aruba," Bruce added.
