The vendor reported a net loss of $11m for the fourth quarter which compared to only being $5.7m in the red for the same period last year but overall for the fiscal year losses were reduced from $26.8m to $10.7m.
Revenue increased slightly in Q4 with a 2% rise and 9% for the year as a whole to $313.7m.
Websense CEO Gene Hodges (pictured) pointed to its subscription growth as the main positive in the last few months of last year and predicted that the improvement in its performance would continue into this year.
"Our fourth quarter results demonstrate that Websense is at an inflection point in terms of growth. The growth in [subscriptions] in the second half of 2009 should translate into growth in revenue and earnings in the second half of 2010," he said.
He added that the vendor was set to benefit from "renewed vigor in the web security market" as well as making sure it could provide better execution in its sales.
