Mid-market software and services specialists across Europe are confident that the future is looking up with most having survived the recession and taking advantage of improving economic conditions.
According to a survey from KPMG the mid-market has come out of 2009 with only a quarter feeling the impact of the downturn and 75% claiming that they are in a stronger position.
Although most of those quizzed expect a full blown recovery to arrive next year two thirds expect to maintain headcount this year or even expand staffing numbers.
Where the challenges lie for those operating in the software and services is juggling decreased turnover with increased costs.
"Given the exconomic turmoil over the last 18 months, it is remarkable how ell European mid-market [software and services] business have come through the recession," said Tudor Aw. technology sector head at KPMG.
He said there were a combination of factors that had supported the market, "including swift cost control measures, aggressive pricing strategies to maintain volumes".
