Of those that had deployed UC, action was being driven primarily by end-user pressure, said Brocade.
The vendor carried out a survey of 100 companies at the UCExpo show at London Olympia.
At the show, held earlier in March, a panel debate revealed high levels of end-user confusion regarding the nature and benefits of the UC concept, with vendors admitting they had over-complicated the sale.
Respondents to Brocade's survey also indicated that productivity, OPEX reduction and travel or carbon footprint concerns were the biggest benefits of UC.
"According to our research users are driving adoption as they are experiencing a multitude of benefits. However, many companies are still missing out," said Brocade UK & Ireland regional director Paul Phillips.
Echoing the views of many others in the marketplace, Phillips added that it was vital to ramp up investment in underlying network infrastructure before attempting to deploy UC-type solutions.
