CA to cull 1,000 jobs

CA is showing the door to 1,000 employees as part of a cost-cutting and restructuring drive announced today.

In a statement lodged with the SEC today, the IT management software vendor also revealed plans to consolidate some of its global facilities.

CA gave no indication as to whether any employees at its EMEA headquarters, which is located in Slough, are to be given the chop.

The vendor added that it expected to incur a pre-tax restructuring charge of around $50m, including Q4 2010 expenses of between $20m and $25m. As a result, full-year EPS is likely to be at the low-end of previous guidance.
