The need to get partners with Microsoft skills follows the compatibility of Veeam's nworks PRO pack for VMware which works with Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager.
Daniel Freid, EMEA managing director at Veeam, said that Microsoft would start promoting the Veeam compatibility to its resellers but there was also a role for its distribution partners to recruit dealers.
"It is part of the activities for distributors to recruit partners," he said.
He added that there were a large number of customers that had invested in VMware and were operating in Microsoft environments and although it was not looking for a huge amount of additional resellers there was an opportunity for those that came on board.
Kevin Collins, solutions development manager at Magirus, said that a lot of customers had been unsing Microsoft and would not be happy moving to an alternative platform so it made sense to target them with compatible tools.
"Resellers that are looking to prove the value of virtualisation to their customers need to convince them that the tools involved are not difficult to use or will require huge changes to their current operating methods," he said.
