Pritchard gets global Comstor role

Alex Scroxton
Comstor executive vice president Jon Pritchard has been made worldwide president of the distributor to reinforce its relationship with its key vendor, networking giant Cisco.

He will take up the newly-created position effective immediately, and continues to report to Westcon president and CEO Dean Douglas.

Last year the Westcon-owned distie signed a global agreement with Cisco to conduct cross-border transactions and created a  new division, dubbed Comstor Worldwide.

The move in theory promoted wider availability and shorter lead times on the vendor's kit, as well as enabling the distributor to present a unified front to the Cisco reseller community.

Speaking to MicroScope today, Pritchard said: "Last September when we established Comstor Worldwide, it was about pulling the disparate regions together, and this just puts the icing on the cake in terms of what we've done since then."

Pritchard said: "Consistency across theatres allows us to take a consistent go-to-market approach to UCS, for example. Cisco is going the same way; it has regional and country managers but its channel operation ultimately rolls up to one point globally."

Comstor remains primarily a Cisco house, but maintains relationships with some affinity vendors as well, such as Plantronics. According to Pritchard, it may be taking on the Tandberg portfolio, too.
