Resellers are being handed the ability to check stock availability through their iPhones handing them the sort of flexibility that could prove to be vital when closing a deal.
Stock sourcing specialist IT Dealer is launching an iPhone app that is a slimm
ed-down version of its online subscription based system but with enough functionality to enable a reseller to provide the customer with up to date product availability.
Existing subscribers to IT Dealer are being given a free subscription to the iPhone app and there will also be deals for those that start with the app and then want to upgrade to the full online service.
"It has particular appeal for field sales teams who are looking to locate stock within the UK channel before calling round distributors," said Sonny Sehgal, IT Dealer director.
He added that it had aimed to make the first version of the app as simple as possible but it was already working on a second generation version with cost price information and a Blackberry application was in development.
Nigel Lomas, director of Shift F7, has been trialling the app in the run-up to its release and he highlighted the ability to provide product availability of potentially complex multi-vendor systems without the need for a PC.
