Former Dell and Westcoast executive Andy Down has re-emerged in the channel taking a marketing role at Computer 2000.

At the same time he arrives at the distributor to take the reigns as director of marketing Alice Smitheman has been appointed as Azlan marketing director.

Smitheman moves from her existing position as UK marketing director at C2000 to the newly created post at Azlan.

For Dow it marks a return to the distributor after ten years in which he enjoyed spells at Westcoast, Dell and until relatively recently back at Westcoast.

Andy Gass, managing director of C2000, said that Dow has experience not only in distribution but at a vendor level and he would "play a key role in helping us to continue the development of our collection of specialist businesses".

Dow, who has been running his own c hannel consultancy, IT Channel Works, in the immediate run-up to this appointment, said that  C2000 was in a strong position to lean on its size and strength in the UK market.

"The pace of change in distribution is increasing and marketing will play a key role in shaping the future success of channel programmes and helping resellers make the most of their opportunities," he said.
