Colt numbers down as voice sales slide

Business comms provider Colt Telecom Group saw year-on-year declines in both sales and earnings as a decline in voice revenue exceeded growth in data and managed services sales.

In unaudited Q1 figures for the three months to the end of March, Colt said it made sales of €396m (£338.8m), down 4.9%, and EBITDA of €77.4m, down 1.9% on the same period last year.

CEO Rakesh Bhasin said that the slower growth in data and managed services reflected "a slower order rate in the second half of 2009".

However, Bhasin pointed optimistically to signs of recovery ahead, saying: "We expect customer decision making to accelerate over the coming months, which in turn will reflect increasingly in our results in the second half of 2010."
