SAP co-CEOs set sights on hosted market

Simon Quicke

SAP's co-CEO's have marked their first 100 days in office using their keynote speeches at the vendor's Sapphire event to pat themselves on the back and set out their goals for the future.

The software vendor has been running its reseller and customer Sapphire event both on-site and online in Frankfurt and Orlando with one of the key themes being about the way data and mobility are changing the way customers operate.

Speaking from Orlando co-CEO Bill McDermott made reference to some of the internal issues the management team faced after taking over 100 days ago: "We have galvanized our workforce and our entire ecosystem around a common purpose: to make every customer a best-run business".

But he was more interested in the way that customers were changing their use of technology with particular emphasis on mobility.

"When you mobilize people, they can do amazing work. It unlocks the value of your platform across the entire enterprise and allows people to literally make decisions in flight. Workers are no longer tethered to the desktop," he said.

Hagermann Snabe talked about the vendor's commitment to keep investing in its on-premise software in his keynote from Frankfurt but added that it intended taking market leadership in the on-demand segment
