Former HP boss closer to taking major political position

Those in the channel with political ambitions might fancy copying the example of the former CEO of Hewlett-Packard who is closing in on her ambition to join the ranks of US Senators.

After leaving HP Carly Fiorina resurfaced very publicly as part of the failed Republican team vying against Barak Obama in the Presidential race but her support for John McCain put her on the losing side.

But undeterred Fiorina now wants her own political power but faces tough opposition from an incumbent Democrat for the California Senate seat, with the votes being cast in November. According to polls Fiorina seems to be in a chance of unseating her rival Barbara Boxer.

Fiorina emerged as the successful candidate for the Senate seat race after a series of primaries were held in the US yesterday.

If successful she might end up joining the former CEO of eBay and fellow Republican Meg Whitman in Washington. The auction site expert spent $70m in a campaign to gain the Californian Governorship.

If Whitman wins then she will be replacing Arnold Schwarzenegger who has reached the end of his term in office.
