Riverbed looks to the channel to provide greater support

Simon Quicke

Riverbed is looking to its first tranche of services specialists in the channel to take the pressure of its support call volumes.

The WAN optimisation specialist has announced those resellers and distributors across Europe that had been successful gaining its Authorised Support Partner (RASP) certification in Europe.

Shirley O'Sullivan, EMEA director of channel marketing at Riverbed, said that RASP had been announced back in March but only those channel players able to offer 24/7 support could consider going for the specialisation.

"We recognised that we needed to help partners to differentiate themselves and get more revenue and income," she added "It free's up us taking level one and two support calls."

She added that the resellers on the scheme would be offering services to customers but those distributors that had been accredited in  Europe would act as a support function for dealers not capable of offering high levels of service themselves.

James Hall, head of operations at Teneo, one of the European RASP partners, said that it would provide it with a chance to offer something other resellers couldn't get access to.
