Sage is expecting the mobile functionality built into its latest flagship product will be a tick in the box for both customers and channel partners.
As the vendor starts shipping its Sage 200 2010 product the ability to use some of the business intelligence functionality on a Blackberry is something that users have been asking for and should appeal to resellers pushing upgrades.
The Sage 200 product offers Blackberry users the the chance to see some BI functionality and is the first time the product has provided that sort of flexibility.
Steve Attwell, general manager for Sage's lower mid-market channel division, said that it had plans for the 2011 release to expand the functionality further and provide the options of placing orders and it would be extending compatibility with Apple.
"We have gone with Blackberry first because the majority of our users are on that platform," he said.
He said that the channel was looking for reasons to get users of previous version of 200 to move to the latest edition as well as upgrading the many customers that were based on the Sage 50 product.
he said that although the economy had been tough there was a need for users to invest in BI and CRM and the taps were being turned back on again.
"The green shoots are there and people are sick of being cautious and are taking more calculated risks which is good for the economy," he said.
