Microsoft on the brink of further job cuts

Simon Quicke

Microsoft has been reported to be on the verge of announcing more job cuts across the company in the next few days.

According to a report in the Wall Street Journal the software giant is planning to make some cuts, but nowhere near the scale of the moves it made last year to cut 5,000 staff.

In the grip of the recession the vendor made its first ever job cuts last year to trim costs but it has since launched Windows 7 and the latest Office suite and seen strong sales.

At this stage it is not known of any jobs will be cut in the UK and Microsoft has yet to make an official announcement.
