Azlan Avaya push to be lead by ex-Opal man

Azlan has revealed itself as the latest distributor to take on Avaya's full line-up in the UK, and is adding former Opal distribution head and Avaya SMB boss Graham Bunting as Avaya Business Leader.

Bunting joined Opal in March of this year, where he was tasked with reviewing the b-2b comms provider's distribution strategy to make it more attractive to the VAR community.

He will now form part of a dedicated Avaya team within the C2000-owned distie's Unified Communications business unit, which is headed up by Joel Chimoindes.

Eighteen months ago C2000 boss Andy Gass said that Azlan's EMEA distribution agreement with Avaya was unlikely to be extended to the UK, but in the wake of the UC vendor's acquisition of Nortel late last year, the lure of Avaya's growing portfolio has forced a rethink.

Azlan strategic development director Ian French said: "As an existing Nortel distributor we already have an extensive capability for enterprise networking solutions."

He continued: "The addition of full access to IP-Office, for the midmarket, and Avaya Aura, for the enterprise, will enable us to broaden our UC portfolio, offering even more choice to our partner community."
