CA bolsters cloud credentials with 4Base acqusition

CA has moved to bolster its cloud expertise through the acquisition of 4Base Technology which specialises in moving users from virtualisation to a hosted solution.

The details of the cost of the privately held 4Base were undisclosed and the company will become the CA Virtualisation and Cloud Strategy group sitting in the services division.

This is the fifth purchase CA has made in the cloud area since summer last year picking up Cassatt, Oblicore, 3Tera and Nimsoft before making the 4Base Technology.

"As CA Technologies expands its role as a strategic partner and advisor to customers on the journey from virtualisation to cloud computing, we are investing in both the software and consulting services needed to achieve substantial business results," said Adam Elster, general manager of CA Services.

He added that 4Base had a track record with hundreds of customers and had a knowledge of all of the major technologies.
