Networking and comms integrator Datapoint has announced the addition of ex-Avaya pre-sales team lead John Fenech to lead its UK and Ireland UC practice, and former HP man Meurig Jones as COO, as it moves to an enterprise managed services model.
The privately-held, PE-backed firm claims its managed services unit now accounts for 40% of its revenues.
CEO Jim Kent, who himself joined the firm last autumn from HP, where he headed up the UK services business, said that undertaking the business transformation during the downturn had enabled the firm to move more quickly to its new strategy.
"It was a case of changing the wheel on the car as it was in motion, but we came out of the year stronger for it," said Kent.
The Avaya partner added that it was planning further hires to support the business realignment this year.
