As part of the move, former NCR VP of Europe global sales and marketing Gary Rider will be moving to the firm to take up the post of EMEA president.

In addition, the firm has added former Cisco UC CTO Joseph Burton as its new chief strategy and technology officer and general manager of enterprise and service providers. At the same time ex-Motorola broadband and software boss Sudhakar Ramakrishna becomes its new senior vice president and general manager of products, and chief development officer.

To back up its new hires, Polycom has also announced it will be forming three new lines of business: enterprise and government/public sector; service provider; and SMB.

Through this it hopes to take advantage of forecast growth in sector spending; according to analysts at Wainhouse Research the hosted and managed UC serbvices market in APAC, EMEA and North America will be worth approximately $6bn (£3.9bn) by 2014.

"Polycom grew sharply in the first half of 2010 to a $1.2bn revenue run-rate and we expect this to continue into 2011," said president and CEO Andrew Miller.
