McAfee unveils ex-Juniper executive as EMEA boss

Simon Quicke

McAfee has appointed a fresh head to run its EMEA operations as it looks to set out its stall following its acquisition by Intel.

Gert-Jan Schenk is taking over as president of EMEA from the outgoing David Quantrell who has decided to pursue other opportunities but is staying around for a few months helping his successor bed-in.

Schenk, who was senior vice president EMEA at Juniper, arrives at McAfee not just at the point where it is becoming an Intel company but also after the conclusion of a distribution review.

Speaking to MicroScope, Schenk said that the its "channel landscape" was in a good shape and it wanted to increase the value for both resellers and customers.

He added that he would be going to the vendor's forthcoming partner event in Las Vegas with a willingness to "listen and learn".

McAfee was acquired by Intel earlier this summer for $7.68bn raising eyebrows at the time because expectations had been a pure play security vendor would have snapped it up.
