Bloxx cuts prices to gain advantage over rivals

Simon Quicke

In a move that will gain publicity and disrupt rivals in the security market, email and web filtering specialist Bloxx has cut its prices.

The decision to reduce UK prices by 5% is being positioned as a move designed to help customers hard hit by tough economic times. The vendor has also underlined that some of its rivals have announced price increases.

Pat Dunne, vice president of sales at Bloxx, said that it wanted to help customers but would maintain margins for resellers.

"Organisations across all sectors are under severe pressure to reduce IT costs, yet the demands are increasing on IT teams to ensure that they have outstanding protection in place to deal with threats that continue to grow exponentially," said Dunne.

"We will maintain our current margins and the price reduction should provide increased opportunities to displace competitors' products," he added.
