HP simplifies dealer training schemes

Alex Scroxton

Hewlett-Packard has unveiled a converged infrastructure training and certification offering to cover its entire ICT offering, including networks, storage, servers, software, printing and personal computing.

Unveiled at the Interop event in the US, the programme, dubbed ExpertONE, will train both  technical staff and salespeople in the design, deployment and operation of open, standards-based networks and converged infrastructure, said HP.

In essencem the programme will enable resellers to gain accreditations and competencies across HP's portfolio without having to jump through multiple hoops.

The vendor claims the programme will enable resellers to gain competencies in as little as a day, fast-tracking them based on pre-existing certifications, which will help "drive increased revenue generation opportunities".

"There has been a void in converged skills training programmes: too many certifications programmes are still focused on specific server, storage or networking technologies," said Foote Research CEO David Foote.

"ExpertONE is attempting to fill this void by offering comprehensive ctoss-domain training that spans every part of the converged enterprise data centr," he added. "From a skills acquisition perspective this is where most IT organisations are heading. And they desperately need help to get there."

The courses are available online, in a self-study format, or at a network of study centres.
