D-Link has signed DCC's consumer distribution unit Gem to manage its growing consumer portfolio and drive more sales through retail channels.

Through OEM partnership with various ISPs including Virgin Media, D-Link has already established a presence in many UK homes, said UK general manager Chris Davies.

"This increased brand awareness combined with the upcoming launch of products such as [media streaming device] Boxee Box, 3G devices and our digital storage range, means we can now cater for growing consumer demand for a networked home," he said.

The firms will also be partnering to offer product marketing support, promotions and services to the retail channel.

The move is D-Link's second distribution appointment in the space of a week, following the addition of Computerlinks to its line-up.

The Newmarket-based security and convergence distie will be focusing primarily on D-Link's IP security and storage lines.
