Anti virus specialist AVG has come up with its own version of a trade-in programme hoping it will result in making the tills ring for its reseller channel.
The 'Make the Switch' campaign offers customers that upgrade to its 2011 Business Edition with a chance to trade-in their existing product licenses with up to two years left to run to get the remaining term on that commitment free and an an additional 50% onto the length of the AVG product.
That could leave a customer that changes one month into a two-year deal with 23 months free of AVG plus an additional year thrown in.
Robert Gorby, global head of SMB propositions at AVG, said that it was trying to use the campaign to create an artificial moment for customers to consider changing their software.
"Our research into the global SMB sector showed there are three drivers for SMB owners to switch security vendors--end of their contractual agreements, new solutions and the need to react to security breaches," he said.
