Suffolk-based cloud and virtualisation specialist and Microsoft Gold Partner STL Tecnologies has sold its telecoms division to IT, telephony and facilities management outfit Admiral Group for an undisclosed sum.

STL, which specialises mostly the criminal justice sector, said it wanted to concentrate its energies on developing new technologies for its client market.

Admiral, which focuses on both SME and enterprise clients, has been bulking up its comms division in recent years through both organic and acquisitive means after picking up Leeds-based Aastra and Mitel partner Applegarth Communications two years ago.

Admiral communications business managing director Paul Allen moved to reassure STL clients, saying: "We value our new customers joining Admiral and have ensured the transfer process was smooth."

He continued: "The acquisition further adds to the scale of Admiral's telecoms oprations and leverages our existing telecoms engineering and support teams."
