Mitel has named Richard McBee, former president of comms and enterprise at Danaher, as its new CEO, replacing long-serving Don Smith, who stood down last year.
McBee, who joined Washington DC-based electronics and instrumentation firm Danaher in 2007 when it acquired rival Tektronix, was responsible for around $700m of annual sales derived from direct and channel sales into the carrier, enterprise and SME markets.
"Rich brings with him exceptional operational leadership and a proven ability to drive growth and increase market share," said Mitel chairman Terence Matthews.
Added McBee: "It is an honour to lead Mitel as it enters its next phase of growth backed by a comprehensive suite of IP-based solutions and a strong network of global partners."
Mitel, which floated on the stock market last spring, made sales of $161m in its most recent quarter, while net profits were close to $90m after the firm booked an $80m tax relief.
